April 2009 - Murchison Transfer Station 15 Apr 2009
Infrastructure Solutions is currently working closely with the Greater Shepaprton City Council to design a new Transfer and Recycling Station to cater for the present and future needs of the Murchison Community.

The new facility will be built at the current Murchison Landfill site on the corner of Cassidy Road and Old Whroo Road Murchison, land which is currently owned by the Council.

The transfer station has been designed to comply with OH&S falling from height legislation without the need to install safety gates.  Worksafe has given in principal support to the design.

The transfer station will undertake the following waste operations:
  • 2 x 31 cubic metre bins for inert hardwaste and putrescible waste for transfer to Cosgrove Landfill
  • 31 cubic metre bin area for recycling of steel
  • 3 cubic metre bins for comingled recycling and cardboard to be recycled
  • Oil collection shed compliant with regulations to be recycled
  • Tyres to be recycled
  • Greenwaste for mulching and reuse by the community
  • A reuse sales shed.

Work is expected to commence on this new facility in September 2009.  On completion of the new facility, the existing temporary transfer station will be removed and the landfill rehabilitated.
